Browser
Used to locate and display Web pages via a software application.
Cookies
Unique number or message given to a web browser by a
web server. The number or message
is then stored by the browser on the user's PC in a text file called a cookie. Each time the browser
requests a page from the server, this number or message is also sent to the web server.
A cookie that expires immediately the browser window is closed is called a session
cookie and is created to maintain a secure connection between the user's
browser and the web server.
The session cookies created by the ActivityForum and fuseblogger systems used on this site
are required in order to maintain a secure connection with your browser and not to store
any personal information.
Other cookies may be used to identify users and personalise your visit by
customising web pages for you; for example by welcoming you by name
next time you visit the same site. A site using cookies for this purpose will usually
invite you to provide personal information such as your name, e-mail address and
other interests pertinent to the sites purpose.
IP (Internet Protocol)
All networks connected to the internet speak IP, the technical
standard which allows data to be transmitted between two devices. TCP/IP
(Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) is responsible for
making sure messages get from one host to another and that the messages
are understood.

Web Server
A computer that delivers (serves up) web pages to your computer.
